UNESCO’s recent work on Learning Cities resonates with Macquarie Community College’s PURPOSE of creating and providing affordable and inclusive learning opportunities. At MCC, we strive to play our part in making Sydney a ‘learning city’.

Another successful collaboration with Soldier On volunteers
A team of volunteers from Soldier On returned to complete last month’s project.
Farewell, but not goodbye to long standing team member, Paula
We recently farewelled Paula, who had worked tirelessly for Macquarie Community College since January 1991, marking her tenure with the College at 27 years!
As the Leisure and Self Improvement (LSI) Program Coordinator, Paula worked with around 1500 tutors and organised over 20,000 courses during her time here.
After a much deserved holiday in Noosa with her family, we caught up with Paula.
Serving Together with Soldier On
MCC staff and locals joined together last week in a project with Soldier On volunteers, committed to serving each other and the community. Soldier On is an organisation that works side by side with contemporary veterans of the Australian Defence Forces and other services.

Congratulations to our graduating Mount Druitt Ability Options class!
We are so proud of our graduating class, as they have overcome numerous social and physical barriers in order to attend and complete this course. One student has severe sight issues, whilst another has been dealing with major health issues that sees him regularly being admitted in and out of hospital.
The Value of Collaborating with the Local Community
Collaboration is an important value of Macquarie Community College. Recently, CEO Theresa Collignon, collaborated with local community organisations to discuss how we can, and do, support individuals from all walks of life to build community cohesion.
Putting the ‘community’ in community college!
Last term was a busy period for Macquarie Community College. We love being part of local community events and celebrating different cultures. Here’s a snapshot of what we got up to.
Seniors Week 2018 – Celebrating our Tech Savvy Seniors
Happy Seniors Week! Macquarie Community College strongly supports seniors in the community and has been providing affordable learning programs for seniors through the Tech Savvy Seniors program since 2013. Recently, our Tech Savvy Seniors students spoke to us about how our courses have been helping them feel empowered and removed the ‘fear factor’ associated with technology.
The Student Journey – Focussing on Continuous Improvement
At MCC, our students are the heart and soul of our College. Each day when we open our doors, we look forward to welcoming new and continuing students and joining them on their path to ‘realise their potential’. Whether it be upskilling or embarking on a new career, learning English language skills, improving their fitness or taking on a new hobby, the journey our students take at MCC is one that we are always seeking to continually improve.
