Last term was a busy period for Macquarie Community College. We love being part of local community events and celebrating different cultures. Here’s a snapshot of what we got up to:
- 3 March – Eastwood Lunar New Year Festival
Macquarie Community College were a Silver Sponsor at the Eastwood Lunar New Year Festival which celebrates the beginning of the Lunar New Year. We enjoyed seeing the lion dancing and talking to leaders in the Chinese community as well as meeting local residents who visited our stall.

- 13 March – Visit from the City of Ryde Mayor
City of Ryde Mayor, Jerome Laxale, met with Macquarie Community College’s CEO, Theresa Collignon, and the College Leadership Team for broad-ranging discussions about deeper collaboration between Council and the College to meet the needs of individuals and organisations in the City of Ryde.

- 21 March – Harmony Day
Our student body is made up of people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. Harmony Day was a great day to celebrate our diversity and to learn from each other’s cultures. Many of the students in our classes did presentations about their own culture, and of course, there was lots of food to share around! We also had a stall at the Blacktown Harmony Day Celebration.
- 24 March – West Ryde Easter Parade and Fair
Macquarie Community College were proud to once again be a Gold Sponsor at the West Ryde Easter Parade and Fair as well as march in their annual parade. It was great to see so much creativity in the annual Easter Hat Parade as well as having an opportunity to speak with the locals.
We hope to see you at more community events throughout the year! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to get the latest updates.
