With some face-to-face classes recommencing in Term 3, we are pleased to unveil the new carpark at the Carlingford campus to our returning students!
The College wants to extend a big thank you to the State Government for the NSW ACE Infrastructure Program in providing a partial contribution of $73,000.With the addition of a significant contribution from the College reserves, we were able to complete work on the carpark earlier this year.
Our Carlingford Campus was originally home to the Carlingford Public School in 1886. The newly created Macquarie Community College moved into the premises in 1988, in the very early days after the amalgamation of the Ryde, Carlingford and Eastwood Evening colleges. Ten years later the College negotiated the purchase of the land and buildings from the Department of Education to make it our permanent home.
Since then, we have seen thousands of students (and cars!) come through to attend our fantastic range of courses. The high usage levels as well as drainage and tree root issues, left the carpark in an increasing state of disrepair.
We were pleased to hear that our application to gain funding to repair the carpark resulted in a grant from the NSW ACE Infrastructure Program to contribute to the restoration of the carpark. Our students can now enjoy smooth, even surfaces, wheel stoppers and well-marked car spots, with much improved disability access.
During this time, we also took the opportunity to install a new pedestrian entry next to the driveway, slip-proof paint on stairs, a safe footpath behind the garden, as well as a newly re-furbished student kitchen with a new set of stairs!
We hope you enjoy the improvements to the Carlingford Campus!
