One of our greatest motivators at Macquarie Community College is when we hear stories of positive employment outcomes for our students.
English student, Seong Ju Mun, was able to find employment because of her new found confidence, gained at Macquarie Community College's popular English language classes.
In her own words, Seong Ju tells us,
"I’ve been in Australia for 4 years now. It was hard for (me) to get a job because my English communication was not good enough to be a worker. So I was working as a kitchen hand in a Korean restaurant and as a home cleaner that doesn’t need to speak any English for the first 2 years.
It was too harsh for me to work those jobs…I tried to look for a better job by learning English. I studied the English for Hospitality and Business course in Macquarie Community College for the last 2 years and it gives me the confidence to study aged care course."
New Found Confidence Led to Job Opportunity
Due to her improved English language skills, Seong Ju not only graduated from her Aged Care course, but also had the confidence to walk into a business and ask for a job – something that she would not have even imagined she could do 4 years earlier!
The future looks bright for Seong Ju as she is continues to improve on her English language skills by studying the English for Work and Study – Advanced Plus course at Macquarie Community College.
