At Macquarie Community College, we believe that you should never stop learning! That's why we recently held 2 events to encourage the local community to get involved in learning.
Open Day
At our Open Day in early February, we held free open classes and demonstrations in a variety of subjects that includedForeign Languages, Intuitive Drawing, Jive, Cha Cha, Rhumba, Samba and Ballroom Dancing, Silver Jewellery Making, Creative Writing, Candle Making, Argentine Tango, Dressmaking, Drawing & Painting, Flower Arrangement, Hatha Yoga and Korean Brush Painting.
There was also First Aid demonstrations, Blood Pressure Readings throughout the day as well as a Petting Zoo, Barista Coffee and Sausage Sizzle for everyone to enjoy.
With over 250 attendees, there was a buzz in the air as people were excited about learning a new skill, whether it be the steps involved in the Agrentine Tango, soldering jewellery or how to say 'Good Morning' in another language.

Seniors Week Festival
To celebrate the Seniors Week Festival, we held a week long event where we provided free Taster Classes to Seniors.
Over 150 Seniors participated in classes where they learnt Computing, Flower Arrangement, Yoga, Calligraphy, Sewing, Drawing & Painting, Foreign Languages,, Creative Writing, Setting Goals, Dancing and Table Tennis.
We also shared a cultural afternoon tea each day and enjoyed eating food from Japan, India, China and Australia!
Thank you to K & L. Tran who provided this encouraging feedback:
Thank you for the Seniors Taster week. It was a brilliant idea to organize a lightweight introduction of popular subjects to the Seniors people. The teachers were so engaging and dedicated as if those classes were real .
We enjoyed all our selected classes and were also impressed by the effort of the MCC teachers and staff during the event.

We hope that we have inspired you to 'Never Stop Learning' and that we will see you in a classroom soon!
