This Basic Computers – Introduction part qualification is a great computer course for beginners. This course will help you develop your basic computer and digital technology skills for personal use, study or at work.
In this hands-on course, you will learn to use computers for routine personal and workplace related tasks including, accessing, creating, saving and managing Word documents and Excel spreadsheets, using the internet for research and using emails to communicate.
By the end of this practical course, you will have the digital skills and knowledge to feel confident in using a computer.

In this course you will learn how to use:
- A computer
- The Internet
- A variety of Microsoft (MS) Office and other applications
Course outcome
By the end of this course you will have started to gain some basic computer skills for work and study. You will have exposure to word processing (Word) and electronic communication (emails).
At the end of the course, you will be issued a Statement of Attainment for units where competency has been achieved.
What is involved
Assessment
- Meet the requirements of the relevant training package or accredited course, and
- Be conducted in accordance with the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence, and
- Meet workplace and, where relevant, regulatory requirements.
For this course assessment will entail the following:
- Written and verbal questioning
- Practical demonstrations
Assessments will be written and practical and may take place in the classroom environment.

An appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills is required to enrol in this course. Macquarie Community College may conduct an LLN assessment as part of the pre enrolment process.
