Course Overview
If you are looking to improve your spoken and written English for study or work purposes, then this course is for you.
Spoken and Written English – Advanced Plus is a short course to support you in improving your workplace English skills in preparation for employment or to study a vocational course. This course builds on skills obtained in FSK10219 English for Work and Study – Intermediate and FSK20119 English for Work and Study – Advanced.
You will learn Advanced level English grammar and pronunciation, improve on your written skills, various numeracy skills to help you in the workplace or study environment.
The course comprises a selection of units of work from the accredited FSK-Foundation Skills Training Package and Spoken and Written English qualifications. Units are selected to meet the reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy requirements of the learners.

What you will learn
Course outline
In this course you will learn how to:
- Use Grammar – advanced levels
- Pronunciation – advanced levels
- Engage in and listen to routine informal spoken dialogues
- Read and write various text types
- Engage with simple texts to participate in the community
Course outcome
By the end of this course, you will be more comfortable having a conversation in English and writing in English.
At the end of the course, you will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the units where competency has been achieved.
What is involved
Time commitment
This course will be run over a period of 7-8 weeks which will include both classroom based sessions and home study.
Assessment
Assessment (including recognition of prior learning) must:
- Meet the requirements of the relevant training package or accredited course, and
- Be conducted in accordance with the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence, and
- Meet workplace and, where relevant, regulatory requirements.
For this course assessment will include written and oral tasks, practical tasks and observation by the assessor. You will be informed when assessments are to take place.

The NSW Government’s Adult and Community Education (ACE) Program provides additional support to disadvantaged students who have barriers to studying a full qualification. The ACE Program aims to promote access and increase vocational education and training outcomes for those who experience significant barriers to training and employment.
This may include students who are:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
- living with a disability
- long-term unemployed
- Commonwealth welfare recipients and their dependents
- migrants/refugees who are unemployed or underemployed
- experiencing other barriers to the Smart and Skilled entitlement program
- living in regional and remote communities where training under the Smart and Skilled entitlement program cannot easily be accessed
