Course Overview
Korean Brush Painting is designed to introduce students to the art of drawing still life using traditional Korean brushes and traditional Korean handmade paper (hanji).
You will learn framing technique, brush strokes, mixing colours, as well as experimenting with mediums such as fixative, gesso, sumi ink, watercolour, pastels and more. In addition, students can further develop their drawing skill using charcoal, pencil, pen and different brushes.
This course is suitable for all levels. Each student can work on their own unique projects, with direct assistance and expert instruction from the tutor.

What you will learn
Course outline
In this course, you will learn:
- Painting using traditional Korean brushes on hanji (traditional Korean handmade paper)
- Painting techniques using mixed media – including sumi ink, fixative, watercolour and pastels
- Brush stroke painting techniques relating to still life painting
- Framing technique
- How to mix colours
- How to use charcoal, pencil, pen and different brushes
Course outcome
By the end of the course you will be confident to paint a still life of your own choice using various mediums.

Entry requirements
This course assumes no prior knowledge of painting but is also suitable for those with some painting experience.

- Paint brushes
- Watercolour paint
- 2B and 4B pencils
- A3 Sketch book
- Eraser
- Lunch, refreshments, cool drink
