What you will learn

Course outline

It is intended that the course will cover:

  • Basics elements and principles of art
  • Use of materials and equipment
  • Brush and paint techniques
  • Tone – exercise and tonal painting
  • Colour – colour wheel
  • Perspective
  • Composition
  • Oil painting methods for landscapes, still life and flowers

Course outcome

  • It is intended that by the end of the course students will be able to produce traditional, realistic landscape and still life oil paintings.

What you need to know

Entry requirements

This level is for the complete beginner and assumes no prior knowledge.

What you need to provide

  • Students will need to bring a notebook and pen to the first lesson.
  • The tutor will go through what materials are required during the first lesson but, students should bring with them any materials they do have.

  • Students will be provided with information sheets.

Important Information

  • There may be an additional materials cost of $150. Discussed at class.
  • This Oil Painting course will involve demonstrations with information sheets, exercises and paintings.
  • The tutor will lead students step by step as painting proceeds.

Step 1 - Choose Your Course

  • Select the non-accredited short course you are interested in.
  • Find a day and time that suits your schedule.

Note: Enrolment is open to anyone 18 years or older.

Step 2 - Enrol and Verify

  • Click ‘Enrol Now’ after selecting your course and schedule.
  • Enter your details on the enrolment page.
  • Verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address.
  • Complete the secure checkout and payment process.

Step 3 - Receive Your Enrolment Details

  • You will receive a course reminder email a day before your class begins.
  • For Online Zoom classes, a Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before class. Use the same link and password for subsequent sessions if applicable.
