What you will learn
Course outline
In this course you will learn:
- A variety of beginner modern jive moves
- Essential dance technique including frame, tone, connection
- The basics of lead and follow dance technique
- Styling for both leader and follower dancers
- To dance with a variety of partner (if you choose to rotate during the classes, otherwise you are able to bring your own partner and stay with them for the duration of the course)
- To dance your beginner moves to a wide variety of popular songs
- To dance your beginner moves not only in a set routine of steps but also to “freestyle” the individual moves in whatever order you choose
Course outcome
- At the end of the course, you will be able to dance a wide variety of beginner Ceroc and modern jive moves in any order you choose and to various different songs.
What you need to know
Entry requirements
This level is for the complete beginner and assumes no prior knowledge of the dance, there maybe students who have completed the beginners course previously in the class.
What you need to provide
Please bring:- Suitable shoes for dancing e.g. plastic, leather or suede soles
- Wear comfortable clothing for dancing
- Your smile and a readiness to learn a new skill and have fun
Other information
The class is delivered in an Auditorium with a stage. A teacher (with a microphone) and a demonstrator will lead the class from the stage and students in the class will dance on the auditorium floor.
Note: As Ryde-Eastwood Leagues is a NSW Club venue, please wear appropriate clothing and shoes and be prepared to sign in at reception (or become a Club member) each week.
