Course Overview
This area as the ‘Place of Many Winds’ due to the wind that can sweep through the Berowra Waters Valley. This journey follows some of the original paths that the Aboriginal people once took when moving around to find food or to move between clans.
This bushwalk offers many vantage points along the way with views stretching up and down the majestic waterways. There is a creek that we follow for a short period which was named after a local fisherman that once camped there. It’s here that you will discovering caves and midden mounds showing evidence of the Indigenous occupation.
This journey also takes you on a short ferry ride where you can purchase fish and chips, have lunch in the park, while resting and enjoying the watery views and adjacent landscape.
Our experienced bushwalking guide, Greg Williams, has been leading walks around Sydney for over 33 years. You can book each bushwalk individually or choose the “Bushwalking – Sunday Adventure Bushwalks Package” which includes all four walks at a discounted price.
Each of our bushwalks includes morning tea with tea & coffee with delicious chocolate treats.

Entry requirements
Macquarie Community College offers a variety of bushwalks for all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned bushwalkers. Most trails are suitable for those with a reasonable level of fitness, while "introductory" graded bushwalks are ideal for those new to bushwalking.

What you need to provide
On our bushwalks you will need:
- Sturdy comfortable shoes
- Clothes for all weather conditions
- Wet weather gear (if required)
- Hat
- Small backpack
- Sunscreen, sunglasses
- Snacks, lunch
- Water bottles
Participants are expected to arrange their own transport to arrive at each meeting place on time, so that the group can start on schedule.
- Meeting Place: Meet at end of Alston Road, Berowra Heights
- Driving Instructions: Allow minimum 35 minutes travel time from Macquarie Park.

- We may occasionally reschedule bushwalks to alternative locations due to park closures, bushfires, flooding, or other unforeseen circumstances. We usually communicate any amendments by email or phone on the Friday or Saturday before the walk

Operational Conditions and Postponements
- Macquarie Community College may alter or postpone bushwalks due to extreme weather or unexpected operational conditions, such as road closures or bushfires. While we strive to follow the planned itinerary and departure times, we cannot guarantee them, and no compensation will be offered for any changes or delays
- Our bushwalks continue in most weather conditions, including mist, fog, light rain, and wind. However, if the weather is deemed extreme, the event will be rescheduled to another date. Any pre-paid fees will be credited toward the new date or a future event
