Aquafitness Classes

Course Overview

Aquafitness is a form of exercise that takes place in a swimming pool. It involves various physical activities and movements designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, and overall well-being. The water’s buoyancy provides low-impact support, making it an ideal exercise option for individuals of different fitness levels

The water’s buoyancy provides a great support and resistance, enabling a wide range of movements without placing strain on your body. Aquafitness provides a full-body workout while you enjoy the massaging effects of the water.

What you will learn

Course outline

Using both verbal and visual cues, the instructor demonstrates the exercises and the class mirrors the movement. Participants can work at their own pace so that the workout is specific to them. Tips will be given on how to modify the exercises if you have physical limitations such as a bad back or knee problems.

During this course you will learn:

  • Warm ups, aerobic work, resistance training and stretching
  • A variety of base exercises with more added each week, using different types of equipment designed to strengthen muscles
  • How to use noodles and wings for resistance work

Course outcome

You can expect an increase in flexibility, muscle strength, and toning of the whole body. Due to the support provided by the water, there is very little pressure on joints and the body can experience a gentle massaging effect from the water’s movement.
